Q: What will my first acupuncture visit be like?
A: We start by just talking! We’ll go through a comprehensive assessment of your needs and create a plan for you involving traditional Chinese treatments and special formulations of herbs that will help facilitate the flow of energy your body. Be prepared to spend an hour and a half at least in this first session.
Q: Will it hurt?
A: Many people are apprehensive about the pain involved in an acupuncture treatment. The good news is that although acupuncture does involve the use of needles, they needles we use are tiny and much less painful than the needles used for injections at a traditional doctor’s office. Many people report not even feeling them during insertion.
Q: Do you re-use needles?
A: Another frequent deterrent when people are considering acupuncture as an option is the erroneous assumption that acupuncture needles are re-used from patient to patient. This is not the case. Our needles are sterile, single use and are safely disposed of after use.
Q: How long will it take me to get better?
A: Most patients see a significant improvement after their first treatment. Treatment times vary depending on the individual and how well he or she adheres to their individualized plan. What we can promise however is that you will get better!
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: We accept some but not all forms of insurance.
Q: Can I request one treatment without the others?
A: Of course! You can always come in for a “tune up.” Your treatment plan may include multiple modalities of Chinese Medicine depending on the symptoms your current health condition. While some treatments might be new to you, we suggest that you try them in order to feel the full effects of your treatment plan.
Q: Will I need to buy medications to supplement my treatment?
A: We do not prescribe pharmaceuticals. Most treatment plans do involve the use of herbal blends prepared specifically for your condition.
Q: Can I receive acupuncture treatment along side treatment from my primary care physician?
A: You most definitely can! The majority of our patients are referred to us by their primary care doctor.
Q: How do I know you are legit?
A: Jean M. Morris is certified by California State Board. You can visit http://www.acupuncture.ca.gov/ for more information on becoming a doctor of Chinese Medicine.
